Big Announcement On Thursday

So you may have heard the Big Radio Tease this morning. We are making a big announcement on Thursday morning at 7:30. I tried putting my self in the listeners shows and wondered what it could be. Here is what I came up with:

Someone is leaving the show

Someone is joining the show

Is there a baby on the way for someone one the show?

Contract is up at the end of the year, did it get extended?

JB and Sandy are going to do regular and satellite radio?

Did someone on the show that isn't married get engaged?

Is someone on the show going through a break-up?

Is The Fugitive going to do his/her thing again?

Are JB and Sandy going to another radio station in Austin?

Just a few things to think about. I will post more clues up here as we get closer to Thursday at 7:30. I would love to see what you guys think, leave a comment. I try to keep up with them the best I can.

On a different note, why do I cheer against Tiger Woods? He is the best thing that has happened to golf in 50 years. He is the best player that has ever played, he will own all the records before he is done. All this and I cheer against him. Why? I have spent a ton of time wondering this and here is what I have come up with.

Everyone loves an underdog. Some one that is a little more like them, that they believe, winning will mean more to them than in does to Tiger. Nonsense I know, but it has crossed my mind.

To beat Tiger you have to do something special. You have to raise your game to his level and when someone does, you know it won't last long, so you hope that for one time someone else can experience what it is like to be as good as Tiger. I guess I want someone else to know what it is like to be the best. Even if it is just for one moment, it has to be a great feeling.

The announcers love all over Tiger and I get tired of it. Johnny Miller being the worst. Everyone just gets tired of people gushing over other people. With Tiger, it almost seems like the announcers are afraid to say anything bad about Tiger for fear of him never speaking to them again. Tiger makes more great shots than anyone else, but there are other guys out there making great shots and they never go on and on about it when some guy you never heard of does it. If some no-name player made the exact shot Tiger made, they may show it once on TV, if Tiger does it, they show it for a week. I understand that Tiger is Tiger and well, no one else is. But those other guys out there can play too. None of this is Tigers fault, he just goes to work, punches the clock and normally collects the trophy.

Tiger is what I want to be. No, not the world's greatest golfer. He is a dedicated athlete that always does and says the right thing. I should cheer for this, but for some sad reason in my heart I don't. I want someone to beat Tiger. I be he is a gracious lose

Hello from Kansas City

Nothing too exciting to report. Tricia and I are in KC. My God Daughter will be baptized Saturday in Atchison Kansas. So T and I decided to suprise my parents in Omaha today and drive to Atchison on Saturday. Its about a 3 hour drive. Should be fun.

I forgot to tell you the name of the facial cleanser that was recomended to Tricia by a estatician. It is called Purpose Gentle Facial Wash. $6 at HEB or Walgreens

Was He Cheating?

Alot of you have been asking about Janice and whether or not her husband was cheating. Well, our man, Michael the Private Investigator tailed him for a week and came up with nothing, absolutely nothing. It turns out that the guy is a workaholic. So, no he wasn't cheating. Happy for Janice.

40th Birthday Party:

My wife, Tricia threw me the best birthday party ever. She really busted her butt and made it great. I think I thanked her 100 times, but it wasn't enough. I wanted to keep it easy and fun. We had friends over Saturday afternoon and when the rain stopped we floated in Lake Travis, drank beers and margs and ate Taco's. Check out my previous post about the Sombreros and Mustaches.

Taking Friday Off:

We will be off on Friday. Tricia and I are going to Atchison, Kansas for my friends Brock and Paula's daughter baptisim. They have asked me to be her Godfather. I am honored to do it and I can't wait to see Brock and JB's hometown. This is my third Godchild. I hope to be better with this one than I have the others. You know, remembering birthdays, Christmas presents, stuff like that.

Digitz Is Now Alex:

He turned 30 this year and hated the name anyway. He never lived up to the name anyway. When we first met, we thought he was a baller that was always getting chicks Digits, turns out he has had the same girlfriend since high school and is a total Mommas Boy. So Digitz is now Alex.

Sports Fans:

Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer! I say it every year, after the US Open, it is tough for sprts fans, unless you are way in to baseball. This time of year sucks until football season. Horns first home game is Aug 30. Start the countdown. IMHO, the Horns are going to struggle this year. Not much on offense and less on defense. I'm not hating, just being honest.

Thanks to everyone that helped us out. We are still counting money, but the tournament was a blast. Special thanks to Rich Beem for coming out and hitting some shots for our early round and raising some extra cash. JB's Dad won closest to the hole. We hope to do it again next year.

Had a blast with Brad and Randy, they are the two guys that took me up on my offer to wakeboard and surf on Lake Travis today. Very cool guys. Keep listening, I plan on doing it again in a couple of weeks.

Time To Rant

I have been trying to keep things positive on this blog, but it is time to rant. Let's get right to the point. Anyone over the age of 12 that rides an inner tube behind a boat is a douchebag. Period. Are you kidding me? You an adult and your going to get on an inner tube and let a boat pull you around in figure eights? You may as well scream to the entire lake, "I am a douchebag with no athletic ability at all" What really sets me off is that in order to participate in this activity, I don't dare call it a sport, is that Tubers don't need flat water to ride their "Bomber" or "Total Eclipse" or their "Totally Tubular" in fact you probably want rough water so you can show your loser friends in the boat that you can really hang on, that you can really get some "air." Come on, you are on a Tube for crying out loud. Rather than staying in the rough water, you seem to always seek out the flat water that wakeboarders need. Why? Here is a tip, if you are a tuber and you see a wakeboarder, go away. Everyone on a wakeboard boat hates you, we laugh at you, we ridicule you. Have you ever seen tubing in the X-Games? Why? Because they don't let losers in the X-Games.

Tubing is great for kids, but please keep your monster overloaded deck boat out of the flat water.

Success, Well Kind of

For the last couple of years I have been unable to use my home wireless internet and it has driven me crazy. What was really crazy is that my wife had no problem using it and I was able to connect to every other wireless network I have ever been near. I finally called my cousin that is a super smart IT guy and we figured it out...sort of. I am now able to connect at home, but it times out on me. Baby steps, small victories, win the battle not the war whatever. I feel like I accomplished something today. Hurray for me and hurray for cold beer. My AC is still out at home and cold beer goes well with no AC.

I have a couple of takers to wakeboard/wakesurf with me on Thursday. See previous blog if you want to ride. Sorry, no newbies allowed.

Cheer for our buddy Rich Beem in the US Open this week. Rich is a great dude. He is playing behind the group of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, so he may get on TV a little.

Tricia ran over a tarantula in the driveway tonight. You would think she slayed King Kong. Very funny.

I am bummed about the Governors Mansion. I hope they catch whoever did it and throw the book at them. Why would someone light anyones home on fire? Do they not have cable? They always get caught. This person will too. The world is full of strange people. Just take a minute and look around.

Cedric Benson sure screwed up huh? Two alcohol related arrests in less than a month. I don't care if you play for the Chicago Bears or flip burgers, that is just stupid. Another Longhorn player that just can't figure it out. Sad huh? Don't feel bad for him. He can afford the attorney fees, feel for the guy that can't afford a half a tank of gas. In the end, Cedric will be fine, the other guy still has to punch the clock. Speaking of punching the clock.......I need some sleep.

When It Rains it Pours

Home ownership can be a real drag. Last Thursday, the hot water heater went out. Had to call AIRCO to come out and fix it, they were awesome. You don't realize how often you use hot water until you don't have any. Yesterday (Saturday) the AC went out. So we will be calling to get it fixed tomorrow. Ugh!

Had a good weekend though. Spent alot of time on Lake Travis. Fought for water to wakeboard in, but all in all everyone around us was cool. We were all trying to do the same thing and everyone "got it" I didn't wakeboard because I didn't trust anyone to drive the boat but me. Call me a control freak, but I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all. There were three other boats all jocking for some good water and a group of kayaks. Why kayaks need to be in the center of a where everyone is trying to ski is beyond me. Also one boat that was parked outside the no wake zone and made it impossible to turn around...bummer. With the help of Steve from Texas Ski Ranch, Tricia finally got a wakeboard that she loves and is riding well. I love it when she rides with us. I finally figured out out how to pull stills off of my video camera and here is what I came up with. Sorry we didn't get a pic of the KGB, Rallie or Back Roll that I threw :)

We did see a real live "Jack Ass" moment. Some guys set up a ramp and were jumping their motocross bikes into the lake. Pretty fun to watch. 20 years ago I would have been right there with them, now I am cool just watching

Making good progress with wakesurfing. Cafe Blue is open and is great. We had dinner there with friends Saturday Night and they have done wonders to the place. OUr server was Kasey and she was aweme. If you are on the lake and want something more than burgers, check out Cafe Blue. It is Sandy Creek near the Marina. They have added plenty of boat parking and gas too. Say hi to my man Chris and Peter. Peter is the boss, but Chris helps you park your boat. Throw the man a tip if you remember.

You know the big Cigarette Boats you see on the lake and think all the guys that drive them must have small weiners. Well, I don't know if they do, but if you get a chance to ride one...do it. They are awesome. I would never own one, but don't knock them untill you have been on one. Very cool, very fast and very load.

Looks like the Lakers are going to lose again tonight

Man the price of gas is really starting to piss me off. No really piss me off. I guess the only answer is less consumption. That will take a while. But I have to believe someone is getting really rich over all of this and it sho aint me or anyone I know. Well, maybe a couple of guys I know, but I also know they will be broke again.

How about this sicko CASA Volunteer? Molesting 2 year olds. Hey I am not a fan of the Death Penalty, but I could probably pull the trigger on this one and kick him into a shallow grave. His wife isn't messing around, she filled for divorce and wants everything, froze his assests. Good for her. I say get rid of this guy. His poor wife and daughter have to live the shame. There shouldn't be any shame for them, but they have to humiliated. Drugging and molesting gets you a special place in hell.

New Discovery HD Show; When We Left Earth, The NASA Missions. I geek out watching this and it has been 40 years. I'm going to call my parents and have them tell me what it was like to watch all of this stuff live. My Dad had a friend in the program, but did something to embarass himself and NASA and was gounded. Sucks for him. I hope I live long enough to see Space Travel for everyday people. I bet I do,and if I do, I will spend every dollar I ahave to do it. Yep, that is the one self-fish think I want to do. Strap into a rocket and blast off. WOW Amazing.

Friday Off and other Ramblings

I know what you are thinking this morning; JB and Sandy only worked two days this week. Well, that is true, but with good reason. If you listened Wednesday or Thursday you may have heard that my grandfather passed away last Friday and my wife, Tricia and I attended his funeral in Wichita Falls. More about that later. We are also off today. JB and his family had planned a long weekend at the Coast, so we have today off too. Tricia and I are going to hang out all day. As I type this, Tricia is putting on her bathing suit and we are going wakesurfing for a few hours, then to breakfast, then to see Iron Man and then back on the lake for a few hours. This is the plan anyway, I am sure it will get messed up somehow, but thats the plan.

I fixed my sprinkler system yesterday. I always feel good when I fix something. I have to fix my sprinkler every year. Over the last few years I have learned alot about plumbing. God bless plumbers, they work hard.

Things I learned from my grandfather:
Education is important, it can never be taken away from you

Tell you wife that you love her every day
Tabasco is king and so is Bob Wills
Hard work does pay off
Copenhagen is good even though it is bad
The Texas Rangers will never win the World Series because it is to hot in Texas to play outdoors all summer long.

The Lakers and Celtics are in the NBA finals. I feel like it is the 80's again. I just wish they would wear nutters for one game. Do you know what nutters are? Prediction; Lakers in 7 games. ABC is thrilled with this match up. Two major market teams is always good for ratings. San Antonio is bad for ratings. Speaking of ratings, ours weren't so good last last quarter. Kind of a fluke thing, but they will get better.


Tricia and I wanted to go to Omaha to see my family for Fathers Day, but it would have cost $1600 for two tickets.....Too much for me, but probably not for The Quarter Millionaire DJ. :)

Anyone interested in wakesurfing/wakeboarding with me Thursday afternoon? I'll provide the boat, you provide gas money, you ipod, some beer and a good attitude. If you already know how to wakesurf or wakeboard send me an email sandy@jbandsandy.com I plan on going out around 2pm on Thursday, I'll pick you up at Emerald Point and drop you off around 4:30 or 5:00. I don't mean to be a jerk about not taking out people that have never done it before, but I have very little patience. You would hate me by the end of the day.

I'm back in from the lake. Tricia rode her knew wakeboard really well. Off to Jim's Resturant for lunch.

Jim's has great burgers, but the Frontier Burger (double meat and cheese) is too much for me. I surrender.
