Love This

Slow Down

I have always done everything in my life 1,000,000 miles an hour. Everything from eating to reading to taking a shower. I remember my dad telling me to slow down when I eat. So here I am on the front porch of 40 years old and I am finally making an effort to slow down and enjoy everything that I do. Whether it is cleaning the car or making dinner, I try to take my time and do it right. What I have found (I started this about 3 months ago) is that things get done better, they get done right. There is no redoing it or doing it again. Slower is easy on the mind too. I wish I could pass this on to everyone that is in a big hurry to get something or anything done. Slow down, the world won't end if you take your time.

Booty Cruise and Memorial Weekend

Well another succesful Bootie Cruise, we had a great group of women that had a blast on Lake Travis. We will do it again next year, so mark you calender. Speaking of Lake Travis, if you are headingout here this weekend please be careful. The lake will be full of people that are getting out on the lake for the first time this season and they may be a little rusty with their boat driving skills. Some may have new boats that there are driving for the fist time all by themselves. Here are few suggestions for this weekend and all summer on Lake Travis from a guy that lives out here and has seen some stupid things happen to really nice people.

Getting Gas: When your are pulling in to any spot on the lake to get gas, the most important thing is to slow down. I see people flying in th marinas all the time. Normally there is someone there to help you secure the boat to the dock. You can make his job easier by coming in slow. Remember, brakes have no boat. If your boat comes in slow, the dock guys can help so much more than going fast.....so slow it down. Make you sure you tip the dock guys to.

Cruising in Devils Cove:
Go in from the right side and out thorugh the left side. It just makes things easier. Devils is a No Wake Zone. When you see the boyees, cut it back and always give 50 feet to other boats. If want to tie up with other boats, it is your responsiblity to have rope and bumpers. There is nothing worse than wanting to tie up with you and they have nothing. Very bad lake form. Make a stop at Boaters World or any other boat supply store and get some good Bumpers and lines to tie off your boat.

Ask others to help you:
There is a reason why big commercial boats have crews, the crews have jobs and it the Captains job to tell them what to do. If you are on your boat, pick a couple of people that can help you out when you are parking or tieing up. Even if it is simple as holding a line while you tie another one. Give them a job. Most people want to help, they just have no idea what to do. If you are on someone elses boat, ask them as you are pulling out, what you can do to help, trust me there is something. The boat owner will love you for this and will probably invite you out again.

Really cute drunk girls that have never been on a boat love to drive boats. Don't let them, even if you think it might get you laid.

Have a great safe Memorial Weekend.

Okay, here is part two. This is not for those of you with a weak stomach.

Sandy on his head

This is an exercise that Laird Hamilton recomends. I did a horrible job at it, but I will get better.

JB is impressive

My Mothers-In-Laws Flower Business

You may have heard us this morning talking about my Mother-In-Laws new flower business. Well, here is what they look like. Keep in mind these were planted less than 24 hours ago and will grow to cover the bag completely.

I grew up in the flower business. My family owned flower shops for over 20 years. I did my time in the flower shop and want to avoid getting back in the biz. Soooooo, if you want to buy one of these, please e-mail Sondra at justintimeflorals@yahoo.com There are $15 for one. She has some deal on buying more than one. Ask her about it.

Thanks,

Sandy

Random Ramblings

Look at me when I was in Pre-School! I recently found this pic when I was going through some old stuff. Mom sure knew how to dress her little guy didn't she? I remember this picture being taken. It was in Tucson, AZ. My cousin is 3 years older than me and he had picture day at school, my mom sent me dressed like a waiter on a Norweigen Cruise Ship.... "Hello, would you like the Lutefisk or the Lefser?" Ah, but those were good times. Throw a fit, get what you want. Had no idea what an alarm clock was, much less a mortgage. Now that I think about it, I bet a Norweign Waiter has no idea what those things are either. Enjoy the picture of my fullest head of hair. I swear, I get jealous of guys with great hair. I'm allowed to do this because I am bald. I was with my friend Sam in LA over the weekend. Dude, has great hair, and he cuts it himself. This is an old picture of Sam and his hair, its longer now, mine is the same. Sometimes it sucks being bald.

Has It Been That Long?

Wow, I can't believe I have been in Austin for 12 1/2 years. It seems like yesterday that I was living in Syracuse, New York, doing a morning radio show, drinking a ton of beer, driving my sweet 1982 Pontaic Gran Prix and wondering where in the world my life was taking me. Then I got a call from JB asking if I was interested in doing a show in Austin, and that he thinks we have a pretty good shot at it. I will spare you all the details of how we got here, but let's just say that might be the best phone call I hav ever received. If I look back at the last 12+ years I am pretty proud of what the JB and Sandy Show has accomplished. Bikes For Kids this year gave away it's 10,000th bike and hit the million dollar mark in fund raising, we raised the money for the Kelly Davidson Foundation to build Kelly's Room at the Dell Childrens Hospital, we raised $100k for the Juvinile Diabetes Research Foundation last year in our first ever JB and Sandy Golf Classic at Barton Creek. So thinkgs are cool with the show. We are working on a new contract right now and I promise it won't be as ugly as the last one was. I don't think I could survive another battle like the one we had 5 years ago. I will keep you posted on how that is going.

If you are new to the show, here are a few things you may want to know about me.
Ten Years ago, I swore up and down that I would never get married again. I got married April 19th to Tricia. We had been together for 5 years and I thought it was time to poop or get off the pot.... so I guess I pooped! We hope to have kids sometime, but we realize at our age (37 and 40 in June) that we may need a little devine intervention and science. We'll see.

A few of my favorite TV shows: Entourage, The Shield, The Office, Real Life, Intervention

Favorite Movie: Snatch

Favorite Resturants: For Sushi it is Musashino, Mexican it's Flores, BBQ its Rudys or the Salt Lick, the best ham sandwich in town is at Smokey J's BBQ at 2222 and 620 Not many BBQ places do ham, Smokey J does it right. For fancy food, I think Eddie V's is tough to beat and Trulucks is right there with them. I love a good sandwich, here are few of my favorites: Hog Island Deli, Jersey Mike's, Thundercloud, Jimmy Johns.

My Favorite Drink is a very strong Crown Royal and Coke. I really need to cut back on these. Maybe just as a treat on the weekend.

If I am going to outside here is what I will be doing. Wakesurfing or wakeboarding on Lake Travis. I got a new boat this year from Steve Present and the Texas Ski Ranch. We went a little over the top with the custom wrap on it, but I think it is cool. My wife just rolled her eyes and said "Whatever little boy" JB said, "Nothing like being almost 40 to get all extreme." I love this boat though. It is a Mastercraft X30 and Mastercraft did everything right with this boat. Trust me. If you are shopping for a ski boat, get your booty to Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels and buy a Mastercraft. I like to play golf too. I am not very good, but I enjoy it.

I hate music festivals. You will never see me at the ACL Festival. I honestly can't think of one band that could get me to fight the masses at Zilker Park to see. I really can't. The Stones were here, I passed, Dylan was here....not interested..Tom Petty....I was on the lake.

Tricia and I love to travel. We have been to Europe a couple of times, traveled throughout most of the US. One of my favorite places is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We went there in the summer and loved it. There are so many cool things to do. We learned that we aren't hikers. I really don't understand hiking, but to each his/her own. Love Jackson Hole and want to go back asap. Other places we want to go and things we want to do. Costa Rica is supposed to be killer. We want to WATCH the running of the bulls in Pamplona. I don't think we will be making a trip any time soon. The dollar is just too weak against the Euro. I also have an interest in Maine. I have no idea why, I just do.

If you listen to the show and hear me talk about Bumper, he is my dog. He is an 11 year old Chocolate Lab and probably the coolest dog in the world. I will leave it at taht. Bumper is my boy!

That's it for now.
